Happy 2019 everyone !
Here’s an important update for you all re- this years MTB cluster sessions…….. to be held at Leeds Urban Bike Park.
The BC Talent Development coaches (i.e. Jack Humphries) and Yorkshire coaches are keen to provide the best coaching opportunities for our young riders and for 2019 the MTB cluster sessions will continue but with a slightly different format….
There will be two groups:
Group 1
The Talent Dev. Centre (TDC) Group which will be open to Juniors, Youth A/B riders who are already racing at regional / national level, or who aspire to do so.
This group will be coached by very experienced MTB coaches led by Jeremy Hayes of Leeds Urban Bike Park, the sessions will focus on developing riders’ race fitness, bike skills, tactical awareness, and will include seminars on diet, race preparation, mechanics, off bike training, goal setting etc.
Group 2
The Club Cluster Training Group which will be open to youth C/D/E riders who are new to mountain biking or who are hoping to progress to the TDC group when they are old enough.
This group will be coached again by Level 2 MTB club coaches supported by any other club coaches who might be interested in developing their coaching qualifications.
The CCT group will focus on developing essential basic bike handling skills and incorporating those skills into practice races, building fitness and confidence.
Riders will be expected to turn up with flat pedals fitted (TDC group with clipless pedals to swap if required)
The dates for the sessions are:
February 9th
March 16th
April 6th
May 18th
June 15th
July 13th
So – in the meantime – we need to know which coaches would like to be involved !
On Wednesday 9th January at 7.00Pm we are holding an informal meeting in the seminar room at Leeds Urban Bike Park where we will discuss the aims of the sessions in more detail and hopefully develop a coaching rota to cover the sessions.
If you are interested in being a part of this, please try to come along, alternatively please email me to let me know the dates you are able to coach.
Level 2 qualified MTB coaches will lead the sessions, Level 2 generic qualified coaches and Level 1 Coaches are more than welcome to also get involved as well !
Any questions and/or to let me know the dates you can cover, please email me:
